Reshaping Manufacturing, Painting a Blueprint for the Future of Industry
With the acceleration of the digitalization process in the industrial field, underlying technologies such as artificial intelligence and the Industrial Internet are comprehensively reshaping the industrial production system, promoting the establishment of new production factors, R&D paradigms, and business models. This process not only subverts the existing manufacturing system but also affects every sub-industry and every link in the industry chain and value chain, making the future industry more open, efficient, resilient, sustainable, and people-oriented:
Openness: In the current field of industrial automation, closed automation systems with strong hardware and software binding still suffer from poor compatibility and lack of interoperability, hindering enterprises from seizing the development opportunities of upgrading and enjoying the digital dividend. Future industrial automation systems will emphasize openness, interoperability, and portability. Through standardized open automation systems and an increasingly open ecosystem, any participant can create interoperable solutions, promoting collaboration and co-innovation, and jointly driving positive and lasting changes in the industry.
Efficiency and Resilience: Efficient production relies on efficient operations. Future smart factories will continuously improve efficiency and operational resilience through digital management, electrification of process operations, and integrated supply chains, making them more robust, agile, efficient, and energy-saving, readily responding to challenges from various uncertainties in the upstream and downstream.
Sustainability: A study by International Data Corporation (IDC) shows that the strength of industrial enterprises' market competitiveness is decisively related to the amount of investment in sustainable development strategies and the intensity of digital transformation. Schneider Electric believes that achieving sustainable industrial development requires industrial software, automation systems, and energy management. With the help of digital and simulation software, enterprises can visualize the management of process performance, electricity, water, and materials, thereby effectively optimizing production and manufacturing processes, improving operational efficiency, achieving intelligent energy consumption management, and near-zero waste.
People-Oriented: According to the "Guiding Opinions on the Development of Manufacturing Talent" released by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, with China's industrial upgrading and the development of the digital economy, the talent gap in key areas of China's manufacturing industry will reach nearly 30 million by 2025. Emerging technologies such as digital twins and operator training simulation software are currently empowering industrial workers. They will, as "digital natives," get rid of repetitive operations, engage in safer, more efficient, and more valuable work, establish more vibrant and forward-looking operating models, and achieve business goals more easily and valuably.
Integrating Digital Technologies to Unleash More Potential in Industrial Scenarios
The path to future industry relies on the rapid research and development and popularization of new technologies. Among the multiple intertwined forces driving the digital transformation of industry, the constantly evolving fifth generation (5G) of new information and communication technologies is providing a strong infrastructure for the digital, networked, and intelligent transformation of the industrial field and bringing new ideas for improving the quality and efficiency of manufacturing.
Currently, the wider application of 5G in factory networks is still focused on the management level, with less involvement in deeper automation control areas such as logic control, motion control, and process control. During this year's CIIF, Schneider Electric, in collaboration with the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology and China United Network Communications Group Co., Ltd., jointly released the "White Paper on 5G+PLC Deep Integration Solutions," practically exploring the value brought by the connection between 5G and the control layer. Based on its rich experience in lean manufacturing, green intelligent manufacturing, and OT technology, Schneider Electric reveals the network planning, deployment, operation and maintenance, performance requirements, and application details of 5G in the entire life cycle of industrial production lines, demonstrating the profound changes that 5G brings to the manufacturing production model. At the same time, it will share its successful experience with more industrial enterprises, jointly promoting the industrial digitalization process and sharing the benefits brought by digital technology.
Sustainable and digital supply chains are an important link in moving toward future industry. During the exhibition, Schneider Electric's Business Value Research Institute shared the insight report "Towards a Customer-Centric World-Class Supply Chain - Lean, Resilient, Green, and Digital," jointly produced with Tsinghua University's Global Development Research Institute. In response to the common supply chain management challenges faced by Chinese enterprises, the report proposes "optimal solutions" for supply chain transformation and upgrading that are highly instructive and deployment-worthy, aiming to provide guidance for enterprises' supply chain construction.
Ecological Win-Win: Creating a Model for High-Quality Development of Industrial Enterprises
A single enterprise cannot control the digital world on its own; a win-win ecosystem is a necessary choice. For many years, Schneider Electric has been committed to creating a new industrial ecosystem of co-creation, win-win, and cooperation, and continuously strengthening cooperation and innovation with partners to continuously inject impetus into the future industry.
On the first day of the exhibition, Schneider Electric and Sunlight Pump Industry (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement, further focusing on the production and operation of high-end intelligent equipment, jointly exploring cooperation opportunities in the digital and software fields, continuously improving Sunlight Pump Industry's capabilities at various stages of the entire life cycle, improving production efficiency and quality, optimizing energy saving and emission reduction, and improving operation management. The two sides will work together to create a model for high-quality development and lead the high-end, intelligent, and green development of China's equipment manufacturing industry.
Driven by high-quality development and "double carbon" goals, the digital and green low-carbon transformation of Chinese industry is accelerating. However, the dual transformation of digitalization and sustainable development is not the end point of industrial development, but the beginning of a new journey. Schneider Electric's participation in the exhibition aims to enable more industrial enterprises to understand Schneider Electric's digital technology expertise and sustainable development experience through this platform and looks forward to joining hands with more industrial partners to accelerate the transition towards an open, efficient, resilient, sustainable, and people-oriented future industry.
The 23rd China International Industry Fair's core professional exhibitions—the 2023 CNC Machine Tool & Metalworking Exhibition (hereinafter referred to as "MWCS") and the 2023 Industrial Automation Exhibition (hereinafter referred to as "IAS")—opened in September 2023 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). Both exhibitions in 2023 attracted over 700 exhibitors, with a total exhibition area of 150,000 square meters. Showcasing the "first" in manufacturing—first equipment, first set, first launch, and first exhibition—focused on the high-end, intelligent, and green development of the manufacturing industry. More than 60 summit forums and activities were also held concurrently.
On September 19, 2023, the week-long "23rd China International Industry Fair" opened grandly at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai. With the support of the Shanghai Municipal Association of Industrial Economy, the Shanghai branch of Xiamen International Bank participated in hosting the exhibition's "Yangtze River Delta High-end Industry and Financial Services Exhibition Area." This exhibition area highlighted the theme of integrated development of industry and finance, focusing on "Carbon Cycle New Industry, Data New Economy." A total of 11 industry-finance docking meetings were held, attracting over a hundred industry associations, chambers of commerce, financial institutions, and nearly a thousand enterprises and professional visitors, achieving in-depth docking between financial institutions and industrial enterprises.
During the series of events in the exhibition area, Xiamen International Bank Shanghai Branch signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with the Shanghai Municipal Association of Industrial Economy. Going forward, the bank will provide differentiated and comprehensive innovative financial solutions to member enterprises and specialized and new enterprises of the Shanghai Municipal Association of Industrial Economy. Based on the strategic cooperation, both parties will conduct extensive and multi-level cooperation across various fields.
